GRADE 8

Mr. Vasturia has a  Bachelor's Degree in English from St. Joseph’s University and attended the University of Georgia and Villanova University for some Master’s courses. He started as a teacher, right out of college, and taught Latin, English, and Religion for four years at St. Joseph’s Prep and in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. He moved to Healthcare and spent over twenty years providing direct care management to chronically ill patients.

"In my experience working with adult and adolescent patients, I discovered that there is nothing that people cannot learn...with the right tools. So, the biggest part of my job was to provide patients with information, tools, and a knowledge of how to use those tools effectively and to their advantage."

Mr. Vasturia returned to teaching four years ago.

"I base my teaching on the belief that the only way to learn Science or English or Social Studies is to do Science or English or Social Studies. While the process of reading from textbooks and taking notes in class is valuable, real learning comes through a student’s effort to understand the past actions of others, to process or demonstrate scientific theories, and to express long held and newly discovered ideas intelligently and effectively. I view my role as a facilitator for this process - to provide a safe and respectful environment in which learning can be stimulated, developed, and nurtured."

His  goals in teaching are not only just to promote learning of the subject matter, but also to help the students learn to think logically, to integrate problem-solving methods and techniques, and to improve the ways in which they express what they are learning.
