Second Graders -
- Love to help! Find ways for your child to help with the smallest tasks.
- Little things make them happy! A sticker, a shiny piece of paper, a smile, a pat on the
shoulder.
- They still want to please you!
- You are still the most important person in their world.
- 7 year olds are very capable! Allow them to do as much on their own as possible -
dressing, cleaning, preparing.
- They are use to using you as a resource. Allow them to discover that they can begin
to rely on themselves.
- They are all losing their teeth!
- When one needs to use the bathroom, they all do!
- When one has a tummy ache ( headache, sore throat, ear ache, dry mouth) they all do!
- They don’t wash their hands in the bathroom.
- Most times they don’t use the bathroom when you send them.
- They have discovered how to play in the bathroom sink.
- They suddenly need to use the bathroom during math lessons.
- Many 2nd graders will tell you that their favorite subject is Math. However, they
love Social Studies, Religion, and Science. They have so many questions!!!
- They will tell you what they want you to know and what they think you want to hear.
- Even though you sometimes need to ask for hugs, they still want them!
