Our winter theme was kicked off with our story “Best Wishes, Ed” by James Stevenson.  2 East took advantage of all the snow and extended the lesson by writing in the snow just like Ed the penguin. We refined our research skills as we used resources to learn about penguins, polar bears and snowflakes. We followed the example of Wilson Bentley, a real scientist/photographer. In his story “Snowflake Bentley” Wilson tries to study and photograph snowflakes through a microscope. His problem is that they keep melting! The boys and girls decided that we needed an igloo to replace our autumn teepee. Thanks for buying all those shoes mom!  We needed a lot of shoeboxes!
