Every year, people from near and far come to the Christmas tree farm to buy Christmas trees.
Two of the trees grew up together. They were best friends.
Both of the trees wanted to be picked. Every time someone walked by, the trees would shout... “Pick Me!”
One day, both of the trees were picked! But, they each went to different families...
The first tree went to a big house...and the second tree went to a small house.
The first tree was not happy with his new home. The children pulled half of his pine needles off, the cat clawed at his trunk, and the children only cared about getting presents.
The second tree was very happy with his new home. Every day, the children sat by the tree and said a prayer. The little girl even knit a red and green Christmas apron to go under it!
After Christmas, the second tree was planted in the backyard of the house he was brought into and the first tree was thrown into the street for the garbage truck to pick up.
The children from the small house saw the first tree stuffed in a garbage pan, took him out, and planted him next to the second tree. The two trees could recognize each other and they were so happy to be together again.
After they were done telling each other about their Christmas experiences, the little girl came out of the small house. “Oh! I almost forgot to give you this special ornament! We always put an angel on our Christmas trees!”
Right after the little girl put the angel on the tree, he could feel his needles growing back and his truck healing from all of those cat scratches.
He understood that the true meaning of Christmas was the celebration of Jesus’ birthday, not presents.
