Today we read from Mark 3: 7-12

Imagine that you were in the crowd coming to see Jesus.  What would you want Jesus to do for you?

A Question During Advent

Today we read from Isaiah. Isaiah talked about God’s steadfast love for us. As we learned, steadfast mean “unchanging”. God never stops loving us.

How does God show us his love?

A Christmas Dilemma

What would have happened if it was rainy and stormy and the wise men weren’t able to follow the star? How would they still be able to make the trip to Jesus?

Goodbye September

Good Morning

Wow!  We have made it through our first month of school!  As I walk through the building, I see everyone hard at work. As I talk to you throughout the day, you tell me about everything you are learning.  I am very impressed and so proud of you.

Our Open House is this week and your parents will be able to come to school to meet your teachers and see your classrooms. This is always an exciting time.

In our morning prayers, we have continued to read from the Gospel of Luke. Our reflection question today asked if the disciples understand how Jesus uses his power? What do you think?  Thank you first and second grades for your artistic portrayal of Luke 9:46-48.

Our afterschool clubs begin next week.  Please be sure to sign-up by Thursday so that we can have an accurate count.

Are you ready for the cooler weather?  October is dress to the weather month.

Have a great week at school and remember to keep God in your weekend plans.

God’s Love

This week, many of our readings focused on God’s love for us, our love for God, and our love for others.

1. How does God show you he loves you?
2. How do you show God that you love him?
3. How do you show others that you love them?

Welcome Back!!

Welcome Back Everyone!

What a great opening! It was wonderful to see all of your smiling faces, again.  As I walked through the building this week, I saw everyone hard at work, already. We are off to a terrific start.

Our Gospel reading, today, was from Luke 6:27-31, “Do to others as you would have them do to you.”  I think this is something we should repeat everyday.  Thinking of others and their feelings is what Jesus wants us to do. Remember, God loves each and every one of us–we are his children.

Many of you expressed an interest in learning to play a band instrument.  There is a meeting for your parents on Monday, Sept. 12th at 7:00 PM in the cafeteria.

What was your favorite class this past week?

Have a wonderful weekend.

It’s Almost Here!!

Hello Students:

It’s almost here–the time of year when we come back together, again!  I hope that you have been enjoying your summer.  I would love to hear about any vacations you went on this summer.

Just a reminder–we are beginning a band program this year for grades 4-8.

Don’t forget to complete your math packet and summer readings.  We are open M-Th, from 9-12, to take your AR quizzes.

See you soon,

Dr. DeMartino

Lent

Dear Students:

Lent is the time to prepare our hearts for the joy of Easter. Many things in our lives can distract us for God.  It is during Lent that we focus our hearts and minds firmly on God.  Prayers, fasting and acts of charity allow us to listen to God speak to us in our hearts.

What are you doing this season of Lent to bring yourself closer to God?

Good Morning:

Our reading today was from the Book of Sirach 6; 7-10, 14-17.

“When you gain friends, gain them through testing, and do not trust them hastily.

For there are friends who are such when it suits them, but they will not stand by you in time of trouble.

And there are friends who change into enemies, and tell of the quarrel to your disgrace.

And there are friends who sit at your table, but they will not stand by you in time of trouble.

Faithful friends are a sturdy shelter: whoever finds one has bound a treasure.

Faithful friends are beyond price; no amount can balance their worth.

Faithful friends are life-saving medicines; and those who fear the Lord will find them.

Those who fear the Lord direct their friendship aright, for as they are, so are their neighbors also.”

How do you know when someone is a “faithful friend”? Are you a faithful friend?

Loving God, you give us family and friends to console us in sad times, help us through difficult times, and rejoice with us in good times. Help us to know who our true friends are and to be a faithful friend to others.

Have a great weekend and remember to keep God in your weekend plans. I am so very proud of all of you. Continue to work to be a ‘faithful’ friend to others.
